Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa

Submitted on 19 May 2017 by Robert Nash

A pledge to “keep our beautiful and wonderful town flourishing” is how the new Leamington Mayor, Councillor Caroline Evetts, described the town she will represent for the next 12 months.

A Leamington resident for more than 50 years, Councillor Evetts was formally appointed Mayor at a ceremony at the Town Hall on Saturday 13 May. She will hold the office of Mayor until May, 2018.

Caroline, a qualified State Registered Nurse, developed a particular interest in geriatric nursing that led to her establishing and running two nursing homes in Leamington

She said: “I have found caring for others including some very vulnerable patients – one of whom survived the Titanic – hugely rewarding.

“Through my work I have received great joy in helping others and I hope to continue this during my term in office.”

Cllr Evetts will be supporting her chosen charities - NSPCC-  in which she has a special interest having worked to support the organisation for more than 50 years.  Her other chosen charities, close to her heart, are the Samaritans and the Alzheimer’s Society.

She added that “It is a great honour and privilege to represent the people of Leamington that work so hard at making it the thriving success it is.”

Described by fellow Town Councillors as a true Leamingtonian and devotee of the arts she has raised hundreds-of-thousands of pounds for different Leamington charities - including organising a fashion show where she appeared as a model.  In her spare-time she is a passionate gardener having recently won two Leamington in Bloom Awards for the Small Gardens category.
