Royal Leamington Spa Town Council is looking for a new Deputy Town Clerk to work within its small but friendly staff team. If you are an enthusiastic, organised and reliable professional, this could be an excellent opportunity to work in the wonderful town of Leamington Spa.
The Town Council works with a wide range of partner organisations to support the Town and its communities, supporting local cultural and wellbeing activities, assisting local community groups through the provision of grants and working with key partner organisations.
The post holder will work closely with the Town Clerk to support the effective operation and governance of the Town Council, taking the lead on a number of specific work areas such as planning and community grants, and working with the team to contribute to other initiatives.
Key duties will include:
- Supporting the Town Clerk to ensure the efficient management of the Town Council, ensuring procedures and policies are maintained and adhered to.
- Supporting Town Council committees / meetings in accordance with relevant procedures – producing agendas, reports and minutes and providing advice to Town Councillors.
- Leading on key areas of work – including land use planning and community grants.
Experience in these areas would be beneficial but training will be provided.
Essential skills:
- Good communication and IT skills
- Partnership working and ability to build and maintain good working relationships
- Organised, efficient and enthusiastic
Working arrangements:
- The post is full time – 37 hours per week.
- Salary scale is NJC Spinal Column points 20 – 24. (currently £28,371 - £31,099)
- The role is office based with some flexible working and some evening meetings / occasional weekend work.
- 6 month probation period.
