Royal Leamington Spa Town Council is looking for a new Civic & Communications Officer to work within its small but friendly staff team. If you are an enthusiastic, organised and reliable professional, this could be an excellent opportunity to work in the wonderful town of Leamington Spa!

The Town Council works with a wide range of partner organisations to support the Town and its communities, supporting local cultural and wellbeing activities, assisting local community groups and working with key partner organisations. The Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa attends hundreds of appointments during the year, supporting community groups and businesses and representing the Town.

We are looking for someone to:

-Support the Mayor and their attendance at local functions

-Support Civic functions organised by the Town Council.

-Lead the town Council’s communication activities.

Key duties will include:

Supporting the Mayor (and where appropriate Deputy Mayor) by responding to correspondence and invitations.  
Working with the Mayor to manage their calendar and ensuring the smooth participation of the Mayor at relevant functions and events, including preparing information and draft speeches.
Leading the Town Council’s regular communications activities, including press releases, social media and website information.
To organise, support and attend Town Council led civic events, ensuring they are efficiently and sensitively organised and delivered.
Working as part of the team to respond to enquires, deliver projects and initiatives and support the wider administration of the town council.

Essential skills:

Excellent communication and IT skills
Partnership working and ability to build and maintain good working relationships
Organised, efficient and enthusiastic

Working arrangements:

The post is full time – 37 hours per week. (applications for job share will be considered)
Salary scale is NJC Spinal Column points 12-17. (currently £26,421 - £28770)
The role is office based with some flexible working and occasional evening / weekend work.
6 month probation period.
